This course will discuss about safety in general, self-protection and safety equipment, also the identification of chemical hazard. It also focuses on chemicals classification. The relationship between chemical and their toxicology, labelling, handling, storage and transportation will also be discussed. Other topics such as chemical waste management, flame, chemical safety acts and management, chemical database will be included in this course.
This course explains the ecology, importance and expanse of estuaries and mangrove areas in the world, particularly in Malaysia. Specifically, the topics that will be discussed in this course cover the characteristics and types of estuaries and mangroves, as well as their adaptation, distribution, biological diversity, food network and nutrient cycle. Apart from that, the economic importance of, threats to, management of and scientific studies at estuaries and mangrove areas will also be discussed.
This course will provide an introduction of seed production techniqes in aquaculture. It aims the students to understand the breeeding techniques of commercially important aquaculture species, know the methods to improve the seed production and maintaining seed quality as well as understand the endocrinological and physiological processes invloved in the seed production of aquaculture species. The main topics include the development of seed production techniques worldwide and in Malaysia, the importance of adequate supply of seed for aquaculturist. It also discusses the sexual organs, reproductive behaviour and physiology of fish, and various factors affecting reproductive performances, broodfish management as well as natural and artificial breeding techniques.
This course allows participants to understand the scuba diving principles for recreational purposes as well as the approaches to be taken to ensure the sustainability of marine life. In addition to providing theoretical and practical understanding of scuba's basic equipment and its functions in general, this course will help to improve the participants' skills and also to enjoy scuba diving activities as well as instilling awareness for the environment.
